Team: Adam Huska

Fantasy Summary

A long-term project, Huska has the tools to become a relevant prospect later in his development but will require patience.

March 2020 – After leaving the University of Connecticut prior to his senior year, Adam Huska strung together a relatively cavalier rookie campaign with the Hartfort Wolfpack as the team’s starting netminder once Igor Sheskerkin was recalled to New York. With the pending graduation of Tyler Wall, Huska will have some fierce competition on his heels and will need to show some immediate growth in his ability to keep the Wolfpack’s net empty in order to keep his starting AHL role out of jeopardy. With the logjam of pro-level netminders in the Rangers’ system, the team could look to move someone from that line of their depth chart this year. The likelyhood of Huska making a stand for an NHL job with the Rangers organization is slim to none, and if he doesn’t show some improvement this season, that sentiment could carry over to the entire NHL. Brayden Olafson

March 2019 – In a somewhat surprising move, the Rangers have decided to ink Huska to a two-year entry-level-contract just days after the Huskies were eliminated from NCAA playoff contention. While the contract is certainly warranted, what’s peculiar is that the team would opt to add to their professional depth, rather than allow Huska to develop another year at the NCAA level for free. In any case, Huska will likely suit up for his first professional contests with the Hartford Wolfpack in the coming days. The 21-year-old’s new contract puts some extra weight in his basket when it comes to owning the mix for the Rangers most intriguing goaltending prospect – but with their current depth, anything can happen. Brayden Olafson

February 2018 — In his second season with the UConn Huskies, Huska posted a 2.52 GAA and 0.914 save % through 25 games, placing him sixth in Hockey East goalies stats and pushing him into team MVP discussions.  Unfortunately for Huska his season was cut short in late January as he suffered an injured left wrist (catching hand) which has kept him out of game action.  Expect the 20 year-old to return to UConn in the fall of 2018.  Geoff Kent

December 2016 — As a USHL rookie, Huska finished the 2015/16 season as the league’s leading goaltender in both GAA (1.82) and save % (0.931).  This fall Adam’s career took another step forward joining the University of Connecticut Huskies.  As a freshman Huska has started 10 of the Huskies first 18 games and posted a 2.54 GAA and 0.926 save % in the very competitive Hockey East.  Huska is expected to represent Slovakia at the upcoming U20 world championships where he would be tested by the best young talent in the game. – Geoff Kent

December 2015 – The New York Rangers took the European netminder with their last pick in 2015th NHL Entry Draft. Huska plays for the Green Bay Gamblers in the USHL. He is a big, athletic goalie who is highly competitive. He tracks the puck very well, has a solid technique and movement, buts needs to work on his stickhandling. This year he has had a very good season with the Gamblers, starting 17 games and owning a 1.65 GAA with 0.942 SV%. He is by far the best goalie in the USHL this year. His performance earned him an invite from the Slovakian national team to participate in this year’s U20 WJC in Helsinki. Jozsef Kurtosi
