Observations:

September 2017 – In the last year of his KHL contract, Dergachev hopes to repeat as a Gagarin Cup champion with SKA St. Petersburg. He still boasts a great skill set but has had little opportunity to showcase it. Another year of bottom-line minutes look to be in store for him, and frequent healthy scratches. Dergachev has started this campaign playing only two games of a possible seven. Playing in the second-best league in the world can be great for a prospect, but Dergachev needs to play more to develop to his potential. Jamie Barber

September 2016 – Disappointingly, Dergachev has signed to play another season in the KHL. Normally it would not be concerning to see a young player like Dergachev sign overseas for another year, but the Kings expected him to be in North America competing for a spot on the Reign. It looks like it will be another year of waiting, but there have been other prospects (see Nikolai Prokhorkin) that have decided against coming to the NHL. Philip Kamhi

January 2016 – Dergachev is the youngest player on SKA St. Petersburg, and predictably he has gotten little playing time in his first 27 games (TOI/G 6:11). However, in the past three games his ice time picked up (TOI/G 10:26), and even peaked at 12:41. In the limited role he has played with SKA, Dergachev has scored twice. Dergachev also played in the Canada-Russia Series, and served as either captain or assistant captain in some of the games. Dergachev played for Team Russia in the WJC-U20, earned two assists and was plus-4 in seven games on the silver medal-winning squad. Watch for Dergachev to sign with the Kings at the end of his season, and be in North America as soon as next season. Philip Kamhi

October 2015 – As expected, this has proven to be more of a developmental year for Dergachev, who's averaging about five minutes a game for SKA St. Petersburg. It is impressive that the 19-year-old has played as much as he has so far: He's dressed for 21 of his team's 27 games. Not bad for SKA's youngest skater! Sheng Peng

June 2015 – The Los Angeles Kings selected Alexander Dergachev with the 74th pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. The big winger was drafted by Shawinigan of the QMJHL 2015 CHL Import Draft's first round giving him some North American options 2015-16. Brendan Ross

May 2015 – Dergachyov (or Dergachev) is a massive power centerman with impressive mobility. His hulking frame is extremely difficult to contain as he battles through the tough areas of the ice. While his size is extremely attractive, Dergachev possesses a smart hockey mind, soft hands and the competitive bone to make an impact in all three zones. At the 2015 World Junior Championships, Dergachev caught the eye of many as he was dominant below the hashmarks and one of Russia’s top skaters. Playing in Russia’s junior league (MHL), he potted 10 goals, 29 points for 39 points in 45 games. Dergachev’s 11 goals topped all MHL players in the 2014-15 playoffs. Brendan Ross
