Fantasy Summary

Golyshev is a skilled playmaker who makes quick, effective decisions with the puck.

Observations

March 2022 – Disgruntled and feeling disrespected by the NYI organization, the diminutive winger bolted after 15 AHL games (five goals and two assists), returning to Mother Russia. He’s got a goal and an assist in six appearances with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg of the KHL, where he’s likely to remain. Mark Allan

July 2021 – Tendering a qualifying offer means that in spite of him missing the entire 2020-21 season, the Isles still wonder whether the stocky, skilled Russian smurf can help them down the road. Mark Allan

April 2021 – Golyshev’s short-term deal carries a $925,000 AAV, dropping to a $70,000 annual salary for minor-league outings. The immediate issues are being cleared to play, being in acceptable shape to do so and being ready before Bridgeport’s AHL campaign ends. We won’t start to get a true read on him until next season. Mark Allan

April 2021 – Signed to a contract covering the rest of the current season, the long-awaited Russian continues to quarantine before he can join the Sound Tigers. Mark Allan

March 2021 – Golyshev is expected to sign with the Isles after he terminated his contract with Yekaterinburg Avtomobilist of the KHL. Drafted by the Isles in 2o16’s fourth round, the 5-8, 187-pound dynamo is Yekaterinburg’s all-time leader with 109 goals and 220 points in combined league and post-season play in a total 366 games. The 26-year-old winger attacks tenaciously and is expected to contribute offensively in the NHL, although not necessarily on a top line. Considering injured NYI captain Anders Lee is done for the season, Golyshev might make his NHL debut sooner rather than later.  Mark Allan

January 2021 – The undersized Russian scored an even-strength goal in a 3-2 loss to Barys as Avtombolist’s KHL record fell to 17-21-5. After 37 appearances, Golyshev has 11 goals, 14 assists and is plus-8. Mark Allan

November 2020 – While his current contract with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg presumably keeps Golyshev in Russia until the 2023-24 season, a report suggests he wishes to come to North America after the current schedule. The 5-8, 179-pound winger has seven goals and seven assists in 19 outings this season, which is right in line with his production the past three KHL campaigns. Mark Allan

February 2020 – A four-year contract extension with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg will keep Golyshev in Russia until the 2023-24 season, when he’ll turn 29. The solidly built 5-8 winger is the second-highest scorer for Avtomobilist in the KHL era, but it’s a good thing the Isles spent only a fourth-round pick on him in 2016. Mark Allan

April 2019 – The Islanders’ chances of seeing Golyshev in New York took a severe hit as he recently signed a four-year contract extension with Yekaterinburg Avtomobilist in the KHL. Golyshev has stated that he has no interest in coming over to the NHL in the next couple of years, so it seems any fantasy owners may be stuck with some dead weight if they want to hold out. He has put up some decent numbers with 88 points in 153 games since being drafted, but it seems that he may not be worth taking up space on your fantasy team right now if he has no plans of making the jump to North America. Nate Duffett

March 2018 – After a poor sophomore season, Golyshev has rebounded strongly. He leads his KHL club in goals (18) and points (31) in 40 games. An emotional, flashy player, Golyshev has a lot of stick skills and a shot that jumps right off of his blade. His rookie season may have come too easy for him, but he has learned from that and has looked revitalized in Yekaterinburg in 2017-18. His KHL contract run through the end of the 2019 season and as an early 1995 birthday, he’s older than most 2016 draft picks. It’s unclear how much interest there is, on either side of the coin, to bring Golyshev over to North America. Michael Farkas

January 2017 – Anatoli Golyshev was an interesting selection by the Islanders in the fourth round, but could be a home-run if he is to turn out in the way that some hockey writers or observers of his think he may. Has been compared to a pretty good Russian player in the NHL right now called Artemi Panarin. If he even turns out to be 1/2 of Panarin I am sure Islanders fans will be happy. Golyshev is a bit undersized, but his skills are extremely high. As with many Russian born players, puckhandling, skating, passing, scoring, and all offensive characteristics are high. Not scoring at the same clip that he was at last year (25 goals in 56 games last year) but as with many Russian players, there are highs and lows and streaks along the way. Kevin Pedersen

July 2016 – Anatoli Golyshev was taken by the Islanders in the fourth round in 2016, his fourth year of draft eligibility. Golyshev already has three KHL seasons under his belt, having put up 36 goals and 68 points in 132 games for Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. In 2015-16, he broke out for 25 goals, good for fourth in the entire KHL. However, it should be noted that he did benefit from an 18.7% shooting percentage, a figure he is not likely to replicate. Due to visa issues, Golyshev was not able to participate in the Islanders’ development camp held the week after the draft. Islanders beat writer Arthur Staple has reported that the Islanders will allow Golyshev to return to Avtomobilist for at least one more season. Brent Craswell
