Observations:

July 2015 – Bobby Sanguinetti has signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $600,000 at the NHL level and $250,000 at the AHL level. Sanguinetti finished ninth in scoring among all AHL blueliners with 40 points (16 goals and 24 assists). Bobby helped lead the Utica Comets to the Calder Cup Final this past post-season, recording three goals, 11 assists for 14 points in 23 playoff games. He brings leadership at just 27 years old as an alternate captain for the Comets. He never really has been given a chance to play in the NHL with only 45 NHL games with the Rangers and Hurricanes. Sanguinetti gives the Sabres some bottom pairing depth and could be given the chance to run the second unit powerplay. Paul Zwambag

April 2013 – Bobby Sanguinetti had a slow start to the season and didn't provide much offensively but was a staple on the back end with the Hurricanes hitting injury trouble early and often this season. Sanguinetti finished the season with only six points and an unimpressive minus-6. He spent some time on IR and his presence was surely missed as the Canes back end was a revolving door of injuries. Look for Sanguinetti to bounce back early next season, the Canes believe strongly in his ability and he will get plenty of ice time. After all, Sanguinetti finished 2011-2012 with the Charlotte Checkers having put up 50 points in 60 games so the ability the Canes see is no illusion. Andrew Ward

 

August 2012 – Carolina believes strongly in Sanguinetti, as he has shown he has all the tools to produce in the pros. He finished last season with 50 points and 125 shots in only 60 games with Charlotte. His only problem is that Carolina is stocked with young offensive rear guards. They have signed him to another single season, two way contract. He will be competing with Ryan Murphy, M-A Gragnani for a final spot on the roster, all of whom are the same type of defenders, but Sanguinetti is the biggest which most of the time projects best in the NHL. February 2012 – Sanguinetti is a blueliner who loves to jump in on the rush with a great skating stride, vision, and stick handling ability. Originally drafted by the Rangers in 2006, he has been developing his game in the AHL for three seasons now. The knock on Sanguinetti’s game is his lack of toughness and strength. Sanguinetti is a great offensive-defenseman with gifted skating and stick handling skills, yet needs a more physical, well-rounded game to stick in the NHL.
