Observations:

May 2016 – Everberg is returning to Sweden next season after two years in North America with Colorado. His 40 points in 54 AHL games this year was more than satisfactory, but his zero points in 15 NHL games was not. Hayden Soboleski

 

December 2015 – Everberg is once again in the AHL after going pointless in 15 games with the Avs. He was recalled by the Avalanche for a fourth-line spot earlier this season, but has lost that spot to Martinsen for the time being and passed through waivers after being reassigned. The waiver pickup of Wagner means there is one less bottom-six spot available for fringe players such as Everberg. Hayden Soboleski

 

October 2015 – Everberg was not successful in his battle for a bottom-six spot with the Avalanche, and was one of the final cuts made in training camp. He is off to a strong start in the AHL (three goals, two assists, plus-four in five games), and will likely be one of the first players called up when injuries arise. The Avalanche currently carry 13 forwards however, so earning NHL ice-time will be a challenge. Hayden Soboleski

 

June 2015 – Everberg was an unexpected member of the Avalanche roster for most of the 2014-15 season, after being expected to spend the year in the AHL. Due to injuries crippling the Av’s bottom-six, Everberg played 55 games with the team, scoring a modest three goals and nine assists. In his short time in the AHL, he scored five goals and two assists in 12 games with Lake Erie. A separated shoulder kept him out of the lineup at times during the season, and as a result he underwent surgery in April. Assuming a full recovery, Everberg will likely get another chance as a bottom-six player for the Avalanche next season.

 

Colorado signed Everberg as a free agent after a strong showing of 34 points (17 goals, 17 assists) in Sweden in 2013-14. A big body that isn’t afraid to go to the net, coach Patrick Roy praised Everberg’s gritty play despite his lack of offence. His size and responsibility make him a good bet to contend for a role with Avalanche next season, but his lack of scoring, lack of PIMs, and Colorado’s top-heavy roster don’t make him a particularly valuable fantasy prospect outside of deep leagues. Hayden Soboleski
