Fantasy Summary

Dominated at the junior level, but is in tough to be fantasy relevant at the pro level

Observations

June 2018 – Playing in his first pro season with the Gulls, Sideroff did not impress. He skated in 47 games with only eight points and was a minus 17. He showed off a wicked shot during rookie camps, but the transition to playing against pros took a toll on him. He is still only 21 so look for him to rebound next season, but at this point he is a long shot to make the NHL.  Lucas Main

September 2017 – Sideroff has the tools to make it to the show, but he relies on his linemates a lot to drive possession. He has steadily made improvements in his game every season and this year he turns pro. He is smart in all three zones, possesses an accurate shot, and has some nifty playmaking abilities. If he can grow his game more and adjust to playing against men in the pros, he could turn into a responsible bottom-six forward. Lucas Main

September 2016 – Sideroff was drafted 84th overall in 2015 by Anaheim. He played for Kamloops last season and scored 59 points in 63, but he had tremendous accuracy on his shots throughout and built up good speed along the walls. He’ll most likely play with the Gulls this season, but keep his name on your watch list. Lucas Main

December 2015- The Anaheim Ducks drafted Deven Sideroff in the third round (84th pick) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.  He is currently in his second full season with the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL. In the 2014-2015 season, Sideroff appeared in 64 games for the Blazers, scoring 17 goals and registering 25 assists for a point total of 42.  The 18 year-old Ducks prospect is currently on pace to shatter his point total from last year. In the 19 games he has skated in this season, Sideroff has eight goals, 13 assists (21 points), and a plus-minus rating of plus-three. Deven was also selected to the WHL All-Star Team this season to compete in the Canadian Super Series against Russia.  In the two games that were played, he managed to score one goal and finish a plus-4 on the weekend. Sideroff has indicated a stable development in his game as he continues to grow with Kamloops of the WHL.  Statistically speaking, and barring no injuries, he should amass close to 75 points for the Blazers and help the WHL club make a push for a playoff spot.  His ability to play on special teams and even strength provide him the opportunity for an ample amount of ice-time.  Although the Ducks won’t be penciling Sideroff on the top line any time soon, he is an intriguing option as a depth forward, and if he continues to grow his game and produce points, a job opportunity could arise In the professional ranks within the next few years.Bryan Puffer
