Fantasy Summary

Bottom-pair defenseman with great size and solid two-way game. Has a good shot from the blue line but doesn’t do much else offensively. Can provide a good amount of peripheral stats once he reaches the NHL.

February 2023 – Schemitsch is currently playing in the SHL after six seasons in the AHL. He is currently no longer under contract with the Panthers. Ben Gehrels

March 2020 – Bubble NHLer who, from a fantasy perspective, may not help much on the stat sheet. Keith Fries

June 2018 – Schemitsch spent his first full season in the AHL where he scored 10 goals and 19 points in 69 games. He turns 22 in October and likely requires another year or two in the AHL before he can challenge for a spot on the NHL roster.  Jokke Nevalainen

Oct 2017 – Entering into the 2017-18 season, Thomas can attempt to build on his ECHL playoffs the year before. He strung togehter six assits in 16 games and showed improved play in the defensive end. This will be second year of his ELC with Florida and with improved play in the defensive zone, he may be able to showcase his puck moving abilities a little more. He already has the size and frame which Florida will like, but he has some work to continue doing. He is not one of Florida’s premier fantasy assets but 2017-18 might be a telling season for his potential and development. – Joel Henderson

December 2015 – So far this season his offense has been slow out of the gate with eight points through his first 15 games, although his team has not been scoring nearly as much – team Owen Sound is averaging a full goal less per game then the rate they scored at last year, skewing Schemitschs’ production. He also got a late start due to a broken wrist in training camp. Schemitsch is a smooth skating, reliable defensemen that the Panthers selected in the third round of the 2015 draft. He is spending the 2015-16 in the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack (his third season with the club), where his offense emerged last season, scoring 14 goals and adding 35 assists for a total of 49 points in 68 games. He doesn’t shy from the physical game as he also posted 36 penalty minutes. He is a converted forward. Lee Rayson
