Observations:

October 2016 – The backward slide continues for Bergvik. Playing in Sweden’s Division 1 for Hanhals IF, Bergvik has appeared in three games so far in the 2016-17 campaign and posted a 3.66 goals-against average and .899 save percentage. While it’s a small sample size, it is more than concerning when viewed along with the last few years of his development.  His numbers have been all over the map, and consistency is one quality every goaltender needs to have. At this point, Bergvik is outside of the Sharks prospect pool. Zachary DeVine

June 2016 – Fredrik Bergvik was loaned from Frölunda to Mora IK in Sweden's Allsvenskan league for the 2015-16 season and split time between the parent club and the J20 team.  Bergvik also saw time on loan to Tranås AIF in Division 1. Bergvik is only 21 but not earning consistent starts in the lower levels of competition is worrisome. When he did play, Bergvik performed well at both the Division 1 and J20 level. However at this point, Bergvik's development is beginning to lag his peers. Seeing only 13 games of action during the 2015-16 campaign will not help and only put him further behind other prospects. Zach DeVine

 

June 2014 – Bergvik is under contract with Frolunda Jr and Frolunda.  He will likely make the move to Frolunda full-time in the next season as he develops. He plays with the butterfly style and though his statistics don’t always look great, he does impress when he gets time on the big stage. He plays well in the big games and he has the talent to be groomed into a solid NHL goalie. Long-term prospect. Tim Graveline

Struggling in a C-level league in Europe, it would take a massive turnaround for Bergvik to get back on the depth chart.
