Observations:

July 2015 – Szydlowski finished in the top-10 in scoring in the ECHL with the Fort Wayne Komets. Shawn was loaned to three different AHL teams in 2014-15, but only scored 1 point in 11 AHL games the whole year. Szydlowski has proved he can score in the OHL and the ECHL, but has never been able to put up decent numbers in the AHL, he has had 73 games to show what he can do and has only put up nine points. May 2014 – At 23 Shawn’s days of making it to the NHL are getting numbered especially when he doesn’t have a high draft pedigree so the Sabres don’t feel the need to just give him a spot and see what happens. Syzdlowski needs to earn a spot and thus far through 62 AHL games he has still yet to register a goal. So it’s safe to say if he were to come out of no where and make the NHL it would only be as a fourth line winger where he would see minimal minutes. His final tallies for Fort Wayne of the ECHL were 11G-15A-26PTS, 46 PIM and a minus-eight rating in 63 games and he actually upped his production during this years playoffs scoring a point-a-game with six goals and five assists in 11 games. 2013-14 was likely his last as part of the Sabres system as he heads into July 1^st as a restricted free agent unlikely to be re-signed by Buffalo and he will be lucky to get an offer at all. Syzdlowski’s days appear to be numbered and only time will tell if someone is willing to take another chance on him if they think a change of scenery is all that was needed. Travis Watson

 

February 2012 – Szydlowski is an undrafted free agent signing for the Sabres. He potted 41 goals in his last OHL season with the Erie Otters, thus slipped by on draft day being a late bloomer. He has some good size and strong play netting goals in close that he hopes to translate into the pro ranks. In first pro season, struggled to post a goal in the AHL for Rochester, thus has been recently demoted to the ECHL, Gwinnett Gladiators.

 

 

Fantasy Outlook: D+

Szydlowski is a hard-nosed winger with a mean streak that possesses good offensive net presence.
