Observations:

November 2014 – Jacob Trouba has been struggling out of the gate early this season with just three points in 14 games. It should be noted that late last season he also experienced a similar slump so it seems to have carried into this season. Keep an eye on him, as this year he may go through a slump. Long term, he is still a go-to option. –Kevin Won

March 2014 – Jacob Trouba has suffered a slump, only posting two points in the past ten games. Fantasy owners should now worry as Trouba is still a young defenceman and slumps are part of the growing process for a young hockey player. Trouba currently has 23 points in 49 games, which is very impressive for a rookie. Additionally, he provides in hits and blocks with 86 and 91 in each respective category. Expect him to be a multi-cat stud once he flourishes. -Kevin Won

January 2014 – Since an early injury that kept him out for the most of November, Jacob Trouba has settled into the NHL quite nicely. For the months of December and January, Trouba has tallied six goals and eight assists in 24 games along with 45 SOG, 43 hits, and 45 blocks. Look for Trouba to be a multi-category stud when he reaches his full potential. –Kevin Won

October 2013 – Jacob Trouba stole the show at the Jets’ season opener by capturing first star of the night versus the Oilers, with one goal (game-tying), one assist, two shots, and a plus/minus of two while logging over 25 minutes of ice time. He also logged three minutes of powerplay time. Trouba has arrived to the big show and did it in an amazing fashion. He has to be on your fantasy teams and could compete for the Calder if he continues to log the big minutes. Kevin Won

April 2013 – The Winnipeg Jets announced they have agreed to terms with defenseman Jacob Trouba on a new contract. Trouba played 27 games with the University of Michigan Wolverines recording 29 points (12-17-29) along with 88 penalty minutes. Trouba, originally avid on remaining for the entirety of his collegiate career, has since decided to turn pro.  Trouba is coming off a fantastic season where he won gold with Team USA at the 2013 World Junior Championship as well as being named Best Offensive defenseman for the CCHA. Trouba is expected to join the Winnipeg Jets and he should be owned in all keeper formats. Brendan Ross

December 2012 – Trouba was named as a captain for Team USA’s World Junior team. Expect Trouba to see a lot of ice time in all situations as the Americans look to improve on last year’s disappointing finish. Rich Dillon

December 2012 – Jacob Trouba was one of the 27 American players named to the USA preliminary roster for the upcoming 2013 World Junior Championships. Trouba is a lock to make the 2013 USA WJC team as one of a few returnees from last year’s team.  He is experiencing great success in his freshman collegiate season racking up four goals and 10 points through just 14 games for the University of Michigan. Brendan Ross

October 2012 – Trouba’s collegiate career is off to a fine start, as he appears to have made a seamless transition to regular for Michigan. Trouba has racked up two goals and four assists in his first four games as a Wolverine and is already their power-play quarterback. Rich Dillon

June 2012 – Kevin Cheveldayoff adds an extremely imposing defenseman in Jacob Trouba with their 9th overall pick. He’s got the potential to become a minute munching defenseman with underrated offensive skills. Brendan Ross

March 2012  – Jacob Trouba is the top draft eligible prospect playing in the USHL this year. He is big, gritty and has shown a tendency to join the offensive rush. Trouba has committed to playing for the Michigan Wolverines next season, but the Kitchener Rangers hold his OHL rights and he could opt to play there instead. Wherever he ends up, he’ll spend the next couple seasons further developing his two-way game. John Canario

Fantasy Outlook: A+

Trouba’s game has grown tremendously offensively and defensively and is one of the top defensive prospects to have.
