Observations:

March 2017 - After struggling to get playing time with the Edmonton Oilers, Puljujarvi was finally sent to Bakersfield on January 9th. Since joining Bakersfield, Puljujarvi has excelled. He’s playing top minutes not only in even strength play but also on the powerplay. The young Finnish prospect has found his confidence. With nine goals and 11 assists in 25 games, Puljujarvi has boosted the Condors offence and pushed them into a playoff spot. If injuries come into play, Puljujarvi is making a strong case to get called back up to the big club. Spencer Pomoty

September 2016 – After nursing a knee injury in the offseason that was potentially the deciding factor in not having him on the Finland World Cup team, Jesse came into Penticton with the Oilers hoping to prove himself as an NHL ready player. He did not disappoint as he finished with 6PTS (2G-4A) in just two game and was arguably the best 2016 draftee at an NHL Rookie tournament.

Personally I noticed him more as a complete winger and an asset not only in the offensive zone but in the defensive zone as well. He showed top-end speed and hands when moving up the ice. His cross-ice vision was second to none and he utilized that heavily when entering the zone. While his shot may not be the most powerful, he uses his deadly release and accuracy to catch goalies flat footed. Brayden Sully

June 2016 - The Oilers never fail to luck out around the draft. After Columbus' unexpected pick at 3rd overall, the exceptionally talented Puljujarvi fell into the lap of Edmonton at 4th. The hulking Finn will be a factor in the NHL lineup next season, and may have an enormous impact on the look of the OIler's lineup with so many talented forwards now in the lineup.

February 2016 – While bore in Sweden, Puljujarvi has dual citizenship and plays internationally for Finland. Puljujarvi has a deadly combination of size, skill, skating ability and smarts. He uses his large frame to protect the puck, but is not overly aggressive. Puljujarvi has quick acceleration, reaching his top speed in a few powerful strides and has good balance and agility allowing him to skate past opposition. Advanced stickhandling skills allow him to control the puck at top speed and make plays in traffic and under pressure or duress. Thinks the game well two-ways with creative offensive vision and passing skills and has improved his defensive game playing pro hockey against men for Karpat in Finland. Peter Harling

Fantasy Outlook: A+

Puljujarvi has the size, skills, skating ability and smarts to step into the NHL immediately and make an impact. He may be the most NHL ready prospect in the 2016 draft class and has Mats Sundin long term upside.
