Observations:

October 2016- The Carolina Hurricanes have claimed depth defenseman Klas Dahlbeck of waivers. The Coyotes decided to make room on their roster for younger players like 18-year-old Jakob Chychrun. Dahlbeck is expected to play a similar role with the Hurricanes as he did with the Coyotes, a depth, bottom pairing defenseman and doesn't offer much fantasy wise. Keith Duggan

July 2016- Klas Dahlbeck has been resigned by the Coyotes to a one-year, one-way contract. Dahlbeck didn't show a whole lot last season but this is a great chance for him to prove he's a NHL caliber defenseman. Keith Duggan

June 2016- The Coyotes did not tender a qualifying offer to Klas Dahlbeck, making him a unrestricted free agent on July 1st, but General Manager John Chayka said the team will continue to talk with him because "we still think highly of him." Dahlbeck scored two goals and six assists in 71 games averaging 15:44 minutes per game, not offering much offensively last season. He did lead the team with 178 hits offering some fantasy use. If he's back in the NHL for 2016-17, it will be in a depth, bottom pairing role and won't offer much fantasy wise. Keith Duggan

October 2015- Klas Dahlbeck was expected to make the Coyotes this season, which he has, but the young blueliner has chipped in offensively and taken on a bigger role than thought. He recently went on a three-game point streak, (two goals, one assist) showing some fantasy promise. Arizona assistant coach Jim Playfair has encouraged Dahlbeck to jump into the play more and gain offensive confidence. In deep leagues he could be worth a pick-up. Keith Duggan

August 2015- The Coyotes have inked Klas Dahlbeck to a one-year, two-way contract. The 24-year old registered 1-3-4 and eight PIM's in 23 games with Arizona and the Chicago Blackhawks in 2014-15. Dahlbeck also recorded 4-7-11 and 35 penatly minutes in 52 games with Portland Pirates and Rockford IceHogs of the AHL. While he was signed to a two-way contract, it's expected that he plays the season with the Coyotes. Dahlbeck probably won't see much power-play time, so don't expect big point totals right away but he does possess some offensive ability. Keith Duggan

February 2015 – On February 28th, Arizona traded Antoine Vermette for prospect defenseman Klas Dahlbeck (along with a 1st round pick) from the Chicago Blackhawks. Dahlbeck has spent the majority of the 2014-15 season with the Rockford IceHogs posting four goals and 11 points in 48 games. Dahlbeck has also suited up for four games with the Blackhawks scoring one goal. Brendan Ross

January 2015 – Coming off a very impressive sophomore season with the IceHogs, Dahlbeck’s offensive output has regressed thus far in ’14-15, with just seven points in 32 games. Perhaps more alarming is the fact that he has an even +/- rating for a first place IceHogs team after posting a +21 in 2013-14 on a non-playoff team. On a positive note, however, a number of injuries with the Blackhawks gave Dahlbeck a chance to skate with the big club for four games, where he was able to tally his first career NHL goal. It’s still early in his career, but so far it is looking like ’13-14 could be an anomaly with respect to his point total. Matt Donohue

May 2014 – Dahlbeck was a bit of an offensive revelation in only his second season in North America. His 2013-14 numbers look even more impressive when you consider that he had 33 points in only 57 games before falling into a prolonged slump to finish the season. Perhaps most impressive for his fantasy prospects was that he led a non-playoff team in plus/minus as an AHL sophomore. With many figuring that Adam Clendening will get a crack at the big club next season, Dahlbeck should be in line for more responsibility with Rockford in 2014-15. Poolies will certainly be hoping that last season’s outburst is a sign of things to come. Matt Donohue

Fantasy Outlook: D

His NHL future is murky right now but if he's back in the league for 2016-17, don't expect big offensive numbers.
