October 2020 – Nyman passed through the 2020 NHL Draft without a selection, making him a free agent.  Jokke Nevalainen

June 2019 – Nyman did not get drafted in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He is now eligible for the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.  Jokke Nevalainen

March 2018 – Nyman was passed over in the 2017 draft and has worked hard in his D+1 year to make sure that does not happen again in 2018. Nyman received some post Draft NHL interest as he was invited to the Toronto Maple Leafs Rookie camp with fellow Fronts teammate and Finnish countryman Eemeli Rasanen, but Nyman was released without a contract offer. Nyman is having a strong offensive season for Kingston and has not been bumped down the depth chart despite the team loading up at the trade deadline by adding veteran stars in Max Jones, Cliff Pu and Gabriel Vilardi. Nyman has been around the top ten in OHL scoring all season long and is one of the highest scoring players in the OHL that does not have his NHL rights owned.  At the 60 game mark, Nyman has 35 goals and 75 points for 1.25 points per game. He been a regular even strength producer with only 16 of his points coming on the man advantage and he has been a clutch scorer potting six game winning goals with a 20.1 shooting %.  Peter Harling

June 2017 – Nyman (pronounced Newman) is a speedy offensive winger. His explosive acceleration is arguably his best asset and he is a shifty player that hard to hit or check the puck off his stick because of his quick hands and feet. His offensive skills are above average for the OHL and he makes plays and has an excellent sense of timing to jump on loose pucks and rebounds for second chance goals. Nyman lacks size and strength and while he plays hard defensively and physically, he often is ineffective or loses puck battels, not due to lack of compete nut because he is just out gunned physically. Nyman had a solid offensive rookie season in the OHL and proved to be a clutch scorer for Kingston and produced for Finland internationally as well. If he can bulk up and get stronger, he could be a good value mid-round pick. Peter Harling
