June 2019 – Iacopelli did not get a qualifying offer from the Kings which means he becomes an unrestricted free agent.  Jokke Nevalainen

February 2019 – Iacopelli has seen his role diminish within the Chicago Blackhawks organization since he was drafted back in 2014 and has yet to live up to his full potential on the ice. He has appeared in 27 games for Chicago’s AHL affiliate Rockford IceHogs this season before being sent to the Indy Fuel where he appeared in nine games totalling an underwhelming four points for each respective team. He was acquired by the Kings during the 2019 trade deadline for Spencer Watson who has spent most of his career playing for the Kings ECHL affiliate Manchester Monarchs, however, also not producing as hoped when given the opportunity to make the jump to the AHL. Iacopelli will report to the Ontario Reign and hope to provide some scoring depth, especially in the instance that the Kings call up the likes of Matt Luff or Carl Grundstrom to evaluate their abilities in the NHL as the season winds down. Julian Mongillo.

February 2019 – Iacopelli has been traded from Chicago to Los Angeles.  Jokke Nevalainen

November 2017 – Iacopelli has spent the start of the season in Rockford where he is playing a solid role for a first-year player. He has made a pretty seamless leap into pro hockey, bringing his ability to make others around him better from college. Expect more of the same from the steady forward. Tony Carr

February 2017 – Iacopelli is having a fantastic season for the fifth-ranked (RPI) Western Michigan Mustangs, leading the team in goals and points. As a result of his play on the ice, as well as his efforts off the ice, he has been nominated for the 2017 Hobey Baker Memorial Award. Tony Carr

December 2015 – Iacopelli’s freshman season with the Western Michigan Broncos has been less than stellar as he has just one goal through 11 games and has a -10 rating. After a couple of big offensive years in the USHL, he was certainly hoping to get his NCAA career off to a better start.  The 21 year-old is a late bloomer type of prospect who may be expected to mature as a prospect sooner than most 2013 draft picks. Matt Donohue

February 2015 – Iacopelli was drafted in 2014 as a 20-year-old after being passed over in the previous two drafts. These late bloomer prospect types are often the most difficult to project, and this is especially the case for someone like Iacopelli, who currently plays in the USHL. He will attend Western Michigan in the fall of 2015 after completing his second season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. After averaging over a point per game and tallying a ridiculous 41 goals in 58 games in 2013-14, his production has slipped this season to just 24 points in 42 games. This is certainly cause for concern for a prospect playing at this level, but it is important to remember that the Blackhawks used a third rounder on him, and he is not just an undrafted free agent. Going forward, it will be interesting to see how he can perform at the NCAA level in 2015-16 and if he can regain the scoring touch he showed in his draft year. Iacopelli has the size to succeed at the next level, but lacks the speed and skating ability of a typical top six forward. He has shown the ability to put the puck in the net and this is something that he will need to continue to do so at Western Michigan if he wants to get a look in the pro ranks. Matt Donohue
