Observations:

December 2017 – After completing his Over Age season with the Kingston Frontenacs, Desrocher finished the year practicing with the Toronto Marlies during their playoff run as a Black Ace, but did not see any action. In the off-season he was not tendered a contract and as such became a free agent. Desrocher was invited to the Columbus Blue Jackets camp on a PTO, but was released. He has since not signed anywhere and is currently not playing hockey. His career seems to be over. Peter Harling

January 2017 – The sizable defender was assigned back to junior for an overage season after a good showing in training camp. The team likely considered Travis Dermott and Andrew Nielsen enough inexperience added to the AHL core. The offensive numbers are continuing to grow, but over half of his 26 points are with the man advantage. The rest of the team is struggling to produce, so it is likely he will be dealt again soon unless the Fronts’ inject some help themselves into the offensive core. He has a lower profile name, but could turn out to be one of the more productive guys in the system for fantasy managers. Jason Banks

March 2016 – The Leafs reached down to the sixth round and drafted a rather safe strong defender with very good hockey IQ in Desrocher. He was a product of the Oshawa Generals’ system that is an easy scouting location for organization and after a couple playoff runs including a Memorial Cup victory, was dealt to the Kingston Frontenacs to help their expected run towards the same goal. The swelling in junior statistics is very encouraging and they come along with top pairing minutes for growth. He is currently standing within the top 10 of OHL defenders in points. Safe defenders with size are a scarce commodity in the organization so Desrocher has a bit of a positive outlook to him should his development continue strongly. At 20 years old he likely finds himself in pro next season but he is yet to sign his entry-level deal. Jason Banks
