Observations

January 2016- Victor Bartley is now part of the Montreal Canadians organization after being traded twice in one day. After five seasons in the Nashville organization, Bartley was first traded to the Arizona Coyotes for Stefan Elliot then was shortly afterward dealt to Montreal along with John Scott for Jarred Tinordi and Stefan Fournier. Bartley only played in one game this season with the Predators, getting no points, and 14 games with Milwaukee of the AHL, earning one assist. He has since been assigned to St. John's IceCaps, Montreal's AHL team. He gives Montreal depth on defense but fantasy wise doesn't expect much. Keith Duggan

June 2014 - Bartley is turning out to be one of the Predators better free agent signings. This past season was his first full season with the big club and he acquitted himself nicely. Bartley's progress earned him a one-way deal last offseason. As one of only four defencemen the Predators currently have under contract, he is clearly in the team’s plan for the future. Despite being an NHL regular, Bartley has only scored 13 points in 74 career NHL games and lacks a true offensive streak. Donesh Mazloum

April 2013 – Bartley has been on the long road to the NHL for a long time. A very good western hockey junior career yielded some interest from NHL teams on training camp invites but nothing secure, so he started catching on with minor pro teams on temporary contracts. After a year for Rogle in Europe in which he posted 34 points in 52 games, Nashville signed him up. He has lead their prospect blue liners in points the past pair of seasons in the AHL and with Ryan Ellis needing more development time, Bartley was the best choice to recall. He is a rather smooth skater who is reliable defensively, doesn’t mind getting physical but will not overpower anyone the pro level. Bartley is a perfect under the radar Nashville style defenseman who has little hype but can deliver a solid performance every night. He is not a lock to make the Predators next year but if he breaks camp, he has upside even as a bottom pairing guy. Jason Banks

Fantasy Outlook: C

He's come a long way however questions remain as to if he can become fantasy relevant in the future.
