June 2022 – Edmonton still holds his rights but it would be shocking to see the 27-year-old ever come back to North America. At this point, even if he did return, Paigin would likely be an AHL depth option as opposed to a legitimate NHL candidate. Jameson Ewasiuk
March 2020 – Edmonton still holds Paigin’s rights but his eye-opening 2015-2016 campaign is a thing of the past and he has not come close to duplicating the 0.73 points per game from that season. After five pointless games in the AHL in 2016-2017 and the seven more the following season, Paigin quickly decided to leave North America and go back to Russia. His willingness to leave North America seven games into the 2017-2018 season does not exactly strike confidence in him potentially coming back in the future. The 25-year-old has been a pretty steady defender in the KHL and that is not likely to change anytime soon. Jameson Ewasiuk
