Observations:

January 2017 – Gravel seemed likely to be a part of the LA Kings defense entering the season, and so far he has been. Although he has played 34 games with the Kings this season, he has only scored two points (both assists). He's on pace for four points, but he has been getting some power play minutes lately, and if it continues he is likely to chip in a few more. Gravel is getting heavily sheltered, starting 65.79% of his time in the offensive zone, which questions how much the Kings coaching staff trusts him in the defensive zone.  He's right in between that sixth or seventh defenseman spot, and it seems that for the time being the organization views him as best suited for that role. September 2016 – In the 2015-16 season Gravel increased on his offensive output from the season prior, adding five more points in three fewer games. He also found himself playing a lot more minutes and in all situations. This culminated in a five-game callup to the Kings and, although he did not score any points in these games, he did not appear to have any difficulty adjusting. He will likely get a shot to make the Kings at training camp, but there is stiff competition when you factor eight signed roster players. Despite this, Gravel will get games with this season, and will be in the NHL full-time within the next year or two.

Gravel is an excellent skater with solid positioning. He has good size and is an intelligent player. Philip Kamhi

Fantasy Outlook: D

Third-pairing defenseman, with second-pairing potential. Not likely to be a big point producer.
